The short answer

Whop starts at a 3% fee on its free plan, rising toward 7.5% depending on plan, against Fanvault's flat 8%, so on pure digital access Whop is usually the cheaper cut. What Fanvault adds is everything physical: signed goods, memorabilia and auctions with real fulfillment, none of which Whop handles. If you sell entry to a Discord, a trading group or a software tool, Whop is built for exactly that and we are not.

Where Whop wins

  • The fee. 3% on the free plan is lower than our 8% and lower than almost anything else in this comparison set, and for a pure digital-access business that difference compounds fast.
  • Community access as a product. Discord gating, licence management and recurring access controls are their core competency and we have no equivalent.
  • Marketplace discovery is real. Whop buyers browse and find products they were not sent to, which is a meaningful source of sales.
  • Affiliate infrastructure is built in and widely used across their catalogue.

How to pick

Choose Whop if

  • You sell access to a community, a tool or a course and nothing physical
  • Discord gating or licence management is central
  • You want the lowest percentage available on digital access

Choose Fanvault if

  • You sell physical items and need labels, tracking and fulfillment
  • You want auctions
  • You want subscriptions, digital products, tips and a wishlist behind one bio link

Switching

Little overlap, so this is rarely a switch. Creators who sell both keep digital access on Whop and put physical goods and auctions on Fanvault.

Fanvault vs Whop: common questions

Is Whop cheaper than Fanvault?
On digital products, usually yes. Whop's free plan starts at 3% against our flat 8%. We are not going to pretend otherwise: if everything you sell is digital access, Whop takes less. Fanvault earns its rate on the physical side, where Whop has no fulfillment at all.
Can Whop sell physical products?
No. Whop is built for digital access: communities, courses, software and files. There is no shipping label generation, no tracking and no auction mechanic.
Which has better discovery?
Both run a marketplace, and Whop's is larger and more established for digital products. Fanvault's discovery surface is aimed at collectors browsing creator drops and auctions, which is a different audience rather than a bigger one.
